Automatic pallet inspection station
Inspection functions
The pallet inspection station, a modular system, for use in closed rooms with a temperature of at least +5 °C or for use in covered outdoor areas. For automatically control of the empty pallet the inspection functions described below are included in our production program. Based on your required test criteria we will configure a custom pallet inspection station for you.
Inspection of cross boards
After alignment of the empty pallet in both axis directions, light sensors check whether the cross boards are present and whether there are any larger broken areas.
Pallet dimensions
After the empty pallet enters the inspection station, any loose objects are swept off and the pallet dimensions (L, W, H) are checked by optical sensors for conformity.
Light/dark check
Special colour light scanners check the single deck boards. The result is evaluated in terms of light or dark pallets. This can be used to identify CHEP pallets.
Nail press roller
Pneumatic or hydraulic press rollers ensure correct transport of the pallet through the inspection station and press in or bend over any protruding nails.
Clearance check and Inspection of block
Sensor controlled free-running switch plates inspect the clearances of the pallet.
Contactless sensors check all blocks of the pallet for larger broken areas; this test also detects any missing blocks.
Edge zone inspection of the top deck boards
Contactless light sensors above the pallets inspect the top deck boards for broken areas. On request, it is possible to inspect only the two outermost top deck boards.
Edge zone check of the 3 pallet bottom deck boards
Contactless light sensors under the pallet skids inspect the bottom deck boards for broken areas.
Pressure check of cover boards and runners
Between the blocks the pallet is stopped and each top and bottom deck board is checked by means of a pressure test of 50 kg. If the pallet exceeds a defined deflection rate it is identified as defective.
Pulling test of the bottom deck boards
All three bottom deck boards of the pallets are clamped and the pallet is lifted under the cross boards. If one of the bottom deck boards does not pass this pulling test, the pallet is classified as “defective”.
Brush station
During the course of the inspection the pallet is cleaned on all three sides by rotating brushes.
Touch Panel console
Almost all inspection functions you define together with us the tolerance threshold for errors of the pallet and will be fixed during the commissioning of the pallet inspection station.
